Black Myth Wukong Chapter 3 Secrets: In Black Myth: Wukong, the new action role-playing game from developer Game Science, you immerse yourself in the world inspired by the classical Chinese novel Journey to the West. You play as an anthropomorphic monkey character, Sun Wukong, journeying through various challenges to gain the Ruyi Scroll and unlock the Painted Realm.
You’ll discover secret areas crucial to your journey as you progress through the game. The Chapter 3 Secret Area is one such area, which players should explore thoroughly. The game features 80 bosses, and you’ll face many enemies. You can unlock numerous secret areas by completing quests and chapters, adding depth and intrigue to your adventure.
Black Myth: Wukong: Chapter 3 Secret Area Guide
Before you face the final boss in Black Myth: Wukong, exploring and completing the secret area in Chapter 3 is crucial. Doing so will significantly improve your chances of achieving the true ending without needing to replay the final bosses or start a New Game+ (NG+).
To access Chapter 3, ensure you’ve fully explored the secret areas in Chapter 1 and Chapter 2. The secret area in Chapter 3 is often overlooked because the NPC required to unlock it, found in The Great Pagoda within the Pagoda Realm, only appears after reaching a certain point in the game and completing specific side quests.
- Start by traveling to Zodiac Village via the North Shore of Bitter Lake.
- Upon reaching the Bitter Lake area, defeat the Chen Loong Boss.
- After defeating him, head south to return to the previous shrine and then travel to the Cellar in the Crouching Tiger Temple.
Once there, interact with Xu Dog to obtain the bone-strengthening pellet key. This key will be essential as you progress towards Chen Loong’s area. Proceed to Zodiac Village, where you’ll find multiple vendors, including Xu Dog and Shen Monkey. These vendors are vital for trading and upgrading your items.
After reaching the entrance to Zodiac Village, the pill is delivered to Chen Loong. Interact with Xu Dog to acquire the necessary medicine and request Shen Monkey to upgrade your items and drinks further.
Next, climb the stairs near Shen Monkey’s area and gather the seeds and proton-Armor worm to bring back to Chen Loong. Upon returning to your previous location, you’ll encounter Yin Tiger, an NPC who can craft and upgrade Armor. Additionally, you can challenge Yin Tiger to obtain the powerful Ebon Flow Spell.
How to Unlock the Black Myth: Wukong Secret Area: Mount Mei

- Begin by entering Chapter 3 and making your way to the Pagoda Realm.
- Take the left path down the snowy trail from the shrine and cross the wooden bridge. Follow the path until you reach a large gate.
- Once at the gate, proceed to the Great Pagoda. As you ascend, talk to the NPC, who will guide you towards the Mei Secret area.
- Continue up the mountain path until you arrive at Mount Mei Shrine, where the secrets of this hidden area await.
All Black Myth: Wukong Chapter 3 Secret Areas
In Chapter 3 of Black Myth: Wukong, several secret areas offer unique quests and challenges.

Another crucial location, The Great Pagoda, is hidden within the Snow-Veiled Trail. Find it, head right at the start of the trail. The pagoda houses paintings from previous chapters that will be updated as you progress. Seven empty slots are on the walls, hinting at the seven-chapter endings in Black Myth: Wukong.

After defeating them, continue to the Valley of Ecstasy by departing from the Forest of Felicity Shrine and dropping down to the Tower of Karma Shrine. Unlock the Spell Binder Spell by defeating a secret boss near Melon Fields.

You will encounter Chen Loong after the event at The New West: Turtle Island during Chapter 2. After defeating the major boss in the area, a certain event will lead you to Bitter Lake. From there, interact with the North Shore of the Bitter Lake Shrine to unlock it as a fast travel point. Facing inland, head to the left-hand side of the beach to find Chen Loong.
How to Beat Chen Loong in Black Myth: Wukong
After locating Chen Loong in the shallow portion of the sea, prepare for combat. Chen Loong resembles a humanoid dragon and uses several lightning-based spells, so be on the lookout. Zhu, your companion, will fight alongside you, making the battle significantly easier.
How to Get Resurrection Pills from Xu Dog in Black Myth: Wukong
Once you’ve beaten Chen Loong, you’ll receive 1,186 Will and 2x Cold Iron Leaves. If your character struggles to move, seek out Xu Dog, a medicine vendor found during Chapter 2. Xu Dog is located at Yellow Wind Ridge: Crouching Tiger Temple, Clear Shrine. Talk to him about receiving a specially made bone-strengthening pellet.
You can also return to Bitter Lake to find Chen Loong on a nearby pier. Upon arrival, you’ll receive the remedy and learn about the domain he created alongside his fellow deities, unlocking Black Myth: Wukong’s Painted Realm. Additionally, there’s a small hub with a shrine that allows you to fast-travel. Select the Ruyi Scroll: Zodiac Village from the list, where you’ll encounter Zodiac Village NPCs who will aid you on your journey in various ways.
Shen Monkey Upgrades in Black Myth: Wukong
Shen Monkey is first encountered during Chapter 1 and later resides in the Painted Realm after it’s unlocked. Following this, several major upgrades become available:
- Gourds Upgrade: Increase the number of flask charges in exchange for Luojia Fragrant Vines.
- Drink Upgrades: Increase the total number of slots for Soaks in exchange for Awakened Wine Worms.
- Brew: Functions like the shrine interface, allowing you to drink and soak in your flask or gourd.
- Store: Allows you to sell ssorted items, including gourds, drinks, soaks, and upgrade materials. More items become available as you progress in the game.
Xu Dog for Medicine Requests
Xu Dog moves to the Painted Realm after you unlock it and offers the following:
- Request Medicine: Rewards you with random consumables legendary and mythical variants. It also grants another request after enough time has passed in the game. The internal timer won’t count down if you’re not playing.
- Make Medicine: Allows you to craft Mortal Medicine, which requires various materials, and Celestial Medicine, which costs Mind Cores and grants attribute bonuses.
- Remake Celestial Medicine: Refunds all Mind Cores, allowing you to reallocate them to other stat bonuses.
- Store: Offers distinct types of consumable medicine formulations you can craft independently.
Chen Loong for Seeds and Gardening
After unlocking the Black Myth: Wukong Painted Realm, Chen Loong offers a gardening series and allows you to use the seeds you’ve collected. Like Xu Dog’s Request Medicine option, you can use the seeds to harvest plants as you progress through the game. These medicines are beneficial as they help you gain up to eight of the common herbs and select a few rare variants, saving time and reducing the need to farm them individually in different regions.
Tin Tiger for weapons and armour upgrades
Tin Tiger is a tough warrior who offers his blacksmithing expertise.
- Craft Weapons and Armour: Functions similarly to the shrine interface.
- Upgrade Armour: Provides the mechanics for upgrading armour. This option is available only when talking to Tin Tiger. It allows you to upgrade the rarity of an armour piece to the Mythical Tier by spending will and assorted materials.
- Store: You can purchase various upgrade materials, such as silk, yaoguai core, refined iron sand, stone spirit, and gold tree core.
How to Defeat the Yun Tiger in the Painted Realm
Facing the Yin Tiger in the Painted Realm is a special boss fight that starts when you select the Challenge option while interacting with him. Here’s a breakdown of how to tackle this formidable opponent.
Multi-Hit Combos
Don’t let the size of the Yin Tiger’s blade fool you. His melee combos can deliver four or more attacks in a single sequence. Some of his moves are sweeping or cleaving attacks that cover a wide area, while others have explosive effects that can go under the ground. Stay alert and keep your distance to avoid these damaging strikes.
Teleportation and Charge Attacks
The Yin Tiger might teleport or disappear, leaving only his shadow behind. When this happens, be prepared for a teleport strike from above. He will also rear up and charge, interspersed with shorter, high-damage attacks. Be ready to dodge and counterattack during these phases.
Dealing with the boss’s grass
You’ll take substantial damage if you find yourself caught in the boss’s grip. Keep your distance and time your movements carefully to avoid being grabbed.
Managing Plucks and Immobilise
As the fight progresses, the Yin Tiger will cast Plucks frequently. This will be followed by an immobilizing effect, so focus on dealing as much damage as possible before it activates. Use Loong Aura Amplification Pellets to boost your attack and critical hit damage.
Recommended Stance
I recommend using the thrust stance due to its defensive, counter-orientated playstyle. It can help you mitigate the damage and respond effectively to the Yin Tiger’s attacks.
Transformation and the Final Reward
As the Yin Tiger’s health dwindles, he will transform into the Wolf Guai, separating his health bar. This will give you the chance to survive longer and take him down. You’ll earn valuable rewards upon defeating him, including the Ebon Flow transformation, which allows you to shapeshift into the Yin Tiger. You’ll unlock new dialogue options with him, giving you an extra accessory slot.
Black Myth: Wukong Chapter 3 Bosses
When you begin Chapter 3, you’ll start in the Pagoda Realm, where you’ll encounter the main boss, the Yellow Wind Sage. This chapter includes quests for the Third Relic, other challenges such as Pagoda Realm Wards and Prisoners, and the Treasure Hunter questline.
